Recreation
With
the Salmon Falls Creek flowing just out of town, fishing is just
from your doorstep. Rainbow, brown and brook trout are found in
most streams just a few miles in any direction or you can drive
twenty miles to the north and catch a record size walleye from
the Salmon Falls Reservoir in Idaho.
Or
tube or canoe down the Salmon Falls Creek just south of town.
A road side rest is located just two miles south with access to
the creek.Tables and restrooms are also located there.
Considered
high mountain desert, Jackpot is surrounded by mountains with
Gollaher to the east and Middle Stack and the Granite Range to
the south. It is also plateau country with plateau mountains surrounding
the town.
Camping
is great off Hwy 93. Many roads lead to clear mountain streams,
Quaking Aspens, wild roses, and wildlife viewing.
Mountain
biking is a great sport out here. The plateau's offer a wide variety
of terrain for anyone.
Ghost
town enthusiast will love the area. Contact, which was discovered
in the 1870's is located just a few miles south of town. Old foundations
and partial wall remain.
In
the winter time, when snow allows, snowmobiling is another recreation
Jackpot has to offer. Sitting in a plateau area, Cross-country
skiing is also a great pastime. Gentle rolling hills run for miles.
